Our MacPherson Strut Compressor is designed to remove the spring from the MacPherson strut units common to front wheel drive vehicles. A strut assembly differs from a traditional coil spring design in that the spring is attached to the hydraulic shock unit in the center. An ordinary coil spring may or may not have a shock absorber in the middle of the spring but it is not an integral part of the spring and does not require a compressor tool to remove it.

The strut compressor kit has a large selection of clamps, plates, and forcing screws to adapt to most every situation. They will collapse the spring so that the shock unit can be removed and/or replaced. The main difference between this unit and the coil spring compressor is that the coil spring compressor must be inserted into the center of the spring whereas this unit clamps to the outside of the spring.
